Cat. #000572: EDDIE BRACKEN

Vintage 8x10-inch black and white still portrait from Preston Sturges' Hail the Conquering Hero (1944), boldly signed in black felt-tip pen with his name alone in the 1980s. In good condition. Eddie Bracken played shy, bumbling leads and co-leads in sprightly comedies and light musicals, including Too Many Girls (1940), The Miracle of Morgan's Creek (1944) and Hail the Conquering Hero (1944). By the 1950s, his brand of humor was hopelessly out of style, and be abandoned Hollywood, to open what would prove a pitifully unsuccessful chain of movie theaters. He found new work in character roles in his later years, playing warmhearted, avuncular typed in films like National Lampoon's Vacation (1983), Oscar (1991) and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992).
